About Us
had its beginning in January, 1917, when the late W. W. Sammons purchased a stock of caskets from Mr. Charlie Peterson, who was selling his hardware business. The caskets were housed in a downt own store building in Soperton.
When a death occurred the family would come to town, buy the casket and take it home, usually in a two-horse wagon. Mr. Sammons bought his first hearse in 1919 and began transporting the casket to the home of the deceased and on to the church for funeral services.
The venture evolved into a full scale funeral home serving Treutlen and surrounding counties. It was founded on the principle of providing professional services while maintaining a personal interest in the people serve d, and always striving to handle every detail in keeping with the wishes of each family.
After Mr. Sammons death in 1975, his nephew, Billy Williams inherited the funeral home. He owned the funeral home until February of 1999, when it was purchased by his son-in-law, Glenn Powell. Billy still remains active in the business on a day to day basis. January, 2012 marked our 95th anniversary of service.
We would like to express our appreciation for the confidence, good-will and friendship that have been extended to us through the years.
Upon reflection, the gr eater service has come from the people of this area to us. For the privilege of serving one another for nearly a century, we are thankful. |
