Wendell O'Connor

Wendell Wiley O’Connor, age 70 of Mt. Vernon died Wednesday, January 11, 2012.

Mr. O’Connor was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County and was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Lillian Ladson O’Connor, and brother, Charles O’Connor.  He served in the US Army, was retired from the drywall industry, and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon. 

Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Tommy Byrd of Mt. Vernon, and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Friday, January 13, with the Rev. Ray Wood officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ladson O’Connor, Teb Byrd, Jordan Byrd, James Byrd, Allen Morris, and Greg Lumley.    

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and may be reached at the home of Tommy and Virginia Byrd, 308 Johnson Street, Mt. Vernon.
