Mrs. Alma Cowing, age 86, beloved wife of the late Clay Cowing passed away on Friday morning, August 6, 2021 at the Treutlen County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Soperton.

Born in Nashville, Tennessee, she was the only daughter and eldest of three children born to the late Samuel Stanton Mann and Virginia Ethel Maynard Mann.  She was raised and attended school in the Old Lebanon and Donaldson suburbs of Nashville.  Mrs. Cowing had worked as a Quality Control Supervisor for Texas Instruments in Plano, TX and for Motorola in AZ.  She retired in the mid 1990s and had lived in Clearwater, FL and Chester, SC before coming to Treutlen County in 2019.  She enjoyed playing the piano, organ and accordion as well as crocheting and bowling.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, John Mann.

Mrs. Cowing leaves behind her daughters, Renee Steverson (Wayne), Maggie Valley, NC, Glenda Bell, Glenwood, GA, her last living sibling, Sonny Mann (Barbara), Amelia Island, FL, grandchildren, Kristian Peacock, Dawn Smith (Heath), Jonathon Braddy (Christina), Tiffany Pace (Chris), great grandchildren, Stella, Jack, Mera and Harper as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 7, 2021 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Milton Thomas officiating.

Mrs. Cowing will be laid to rest privately.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home.
