Barbara Clark
Edwards
Apr 14, 1936 — Feb 4, 2026
East Dublin
Mrs. Barbara Clark Edwards, age 89, beloved wife of Reverend Ben Edwards, of East Dublin, received her heavenly reward on Wednesday afternoon, February 4, 2026 while surrounded by her family at her home.
Born in Savannah, she was the eldest of four children born to the late Edward James Clark and Myrtle Grace Ambrose Clark. She grew up in Savannah where she attended the Commercial High School. During her formative years in Chatham County, she met Emanuel County native, Ben Edwards; who had moved to Savannah and lived in her neighborhood. Their friendship blossomed into a relationship that would result in their being married on June the nineteenth in the year 1953. Thus began their story that spanned seventy two and one half years.
Mrs. Edwards's husband accepted the call into the ministry and she accepted the role of a pastor's wife. Her husband ministered to congregations at churches in Georgia, South Carolina and Kentucky while she taught Sunday School, sang in the choirs, led Vacation Bible School and filled many other roles that would have otherwise gone unattended. Their most recent and final church was Blue Springs Baptist Church in the Rockledge Community of East Dublin.
Mrs. Edwards enjoyed the fellowship of their church families and the gathering of her family on special events and holidays.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Jerald "Jerry" Clark and Edward Eugene "Gene" Clark.
Mrs. Edwards leaves behind her husband, Reverend Ben Edwards, East Dublin, GA; their daughter, JoAnne Edwards Donaldson (Jimmy), East Dublin, GA; their two sons, Ben Edwards Jr. (Robin), Valdosta, GA, Richard Edwards (Gail), Moultrie, GA; her brother, Ronald K. Clark (Elsie), Savannah, GA; a sister in law, Joan Clark, Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Tiffany Ivey (Chris), Travis J. "T.J." Harden (Leigh), Richard "Allen" Edwards Jr. (Jessica), Lisa Marie Duncan (Clark), Charles Anthony "Chuck" Edwards (Melissa), Chad Brantley Edwards (Jennifer), Heather Nicole Armagost (Joe); fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Blue Springs Baptist Church with her husband, Reverend Ben Edwards officiating.
Mrs. Edwards will be laid to rest in the Blue Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be: grandsons; Allen Edwards, Clark Duncan, T. J. Harden, Chris Ivey, Chuck Edwards and Chad Edwards.
Her family will receive friends on Saturday, at the church, from 1:00 o'clock p. m. until the hour of service or friends and family may call at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to: Georgia Hospice, 1111 Hillcrest Parkway, Dublin, Georgia 31021 or to the Blue Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Faye Palmer, 2046 Thairdell Road, Rockledge, GA 30454
