Mrs. Barbara H. Maddox, age 68, of Mount Vernon died Tuesday, February 9, 2016.

Funeral services were held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 11, with the Reverend Jimmy Willhite officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Glenwood.

Pallbearers were Shawn Maddox, Joe Ramage, Franklin Smith, Benjamin Tharpe, Lodus Tharpe, Sr., and Lodus Tharpe, Jr.

Mrs. Maddox was born in Lake City, Florida, and was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lillie Mae Witt Herb, and her husband, Homer Eugene Maddox. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her children, Norman (Tracie) Maddox, Betty (Lodus, Sr.) Tharpe, and Roy Gene (Robin) Maddox, all of Mount Vernon, Joe (Melissa) Maddox of Hudson, FL, Roy Perkins of Inverness, FL and Frances Crowe of Warner Robins; brother, John B. Herb of Mount Vernon; fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
