Mrs. Barthenia Clark Couey, age 90, passed away on Sunday morning, June 3, 2018 at the Treutlen County Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from the graveside in Cedar Grove Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Wayne Durden, officiating.

Her family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton, GA.

Born in Montgomery County, she was one of fourteen children born to the late Lawrence A. and Cuzzie Lowery Clark. She graduated from high school at Brewton Parker High School and pursued nursing training at Claxton Hospital in Dublin. She began a long career in the Healthcare Industry at the age of 18; working as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Treutlen County Hospital and Fairview Park Hospital until retiring at the age of 65.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Couey and twelve brothers and sisters.

She is survived by: her twin children, Clay Couey (Carol), Glenwood, GA, Faye Adams (Jeff), Bainbridge, GA, a sister, Eunice Mathis, Fitzgerald, GA, three grandchildren, Christy McCoy (David), Bainbridge, GA, Brandon Webb, Adrian, GA, Shane Webb, Dublin, GA, three great grandchildren, Isabella Barnett, Preston Barnett, Maddy McCoy, all of Bainbridge, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Treutlen County Health and Rehabilitation Center, 2249 North College Street, Soperton, GA.
