Mrs. Betty J. Cummings, age 78, of Soperton died Saturday, September 23, 2017.

Mrs. Cummings was born in Treutlen County and was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley Herndon and Oreta Hutcheson Herndon, her daughter, Mary Ann Stewart, and her brother, Bobby Joe Herndon. She was a homemaker and was a member of Blackville Church of God, Treutlen County.

Survivors include her husband of thirty-two years, George W. Cummings; children, Deborah (Wayne) McGee of Sparta, James Michael (Laura) Cummings of Soperton, and Freddy (Heather) Harrell of Alabama; grandchildren, Michael (Gina) Williamson of Lyons, Emily Cummings, Jodie Cummings, both of Atlanta, and Morgan Harrell of Waycross; great-grandchildren, Cole Williamson and Cody Williamson; niece, Brandy (Patrick) Willis; and nephew, John (Jessica) Herndon.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 11 o'clock Monday, September 25, with Reverend Brian Hill officiating.  Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery, Treutlen County.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour before the services on Monday.
