Billy
Barber
Jul 7, 1950 — Mar 22, 2025
Soperton
Mr. Billy "Bill" Barber, age 74, of Soperton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the Treutlen County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Soperton.
Born in Treutlen County, he was the youngest of five children born to the late James L. "J. W." Barber and Estene Maggie Henry Barber. "Bill" was a lifelong resident of Treutlen County, growing up in the Zaidee Community. He lived, on the homeplace, with his parents until their passing where he remained until moving into Treutlen Health and Rehab in 2019. He had worked with the Brinsons on their farm in Zaidee, helped others in the community as their crops came in and was the yardman for his parents. He possessed an uncanny knowledge of his family's history, lineage and genealogy.
Bill was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Falcons and retained team statistics that were the envy of any sportscaster.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Freddie "Fred" Barber Sr., and a sister, Dorothy "Dot" Barber Brinson.
He leaves behind, a sister, Laverne Hall, Orland Community of Soperton, GA, a brother, Pastor M. L. Barber (Margaret), Soperton, GA and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 27, 2025 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with his brother, Pastor M. L. Barber officiating.
Mr. Barber will be laid to rest beside his parents in the Red Bluff Cemetery.
His family will receive friends, on Thursday, at the funeral home, from 2:00 p. m. until the hour of service.
His family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Treutlen County Health and Rehabilitation Center for the unconditional loving care that they provided to Billy during his stay with them. He loved each of them dearly and they made his last years here on earth, the best!!!
