Mr. Vernon

Obituary

Mr. Billy G. Cammack, age 79, beloved husband of Sue Williams Cammack of Mt. Vernon passed away on Thursday afternoon, May 15, 2025 at Memorial Health in Savannah.

Born in Treutlen County, he was one of seven children born to the late Grady James "G. J." Cammack and Jessi Lee Gilreath Cammack.  He attended school in Treutlen County and in January of 1966 married Sue Williams.

Mr. Billy had worked in the grocery business; managing multiple retail stores until retiring in 2008.  In 1977, he and his brother, Grady, had started Cammack Deer Processing.  This business has been a mainstay in the area for generations of local and out of state hunters.  When he retired from managing grocery stores, he continued to operate their meat processing business but also pursued his passion for farming.  Mr. Billy and his wife, Sue, together raised untold breeds of farm animals from newborn to full grown livestock.  They also, together, cut and baled hay for other farmers and land owners over a multi county area for many years.   His helping hand and knowledge will be missed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Cammack Walker and a brother, Grady Cammack.

Mr. Billy leaves to cherish the memories of his life: his wife and partner of fifty nine years, Sue Williams Cammack, their children, Rodney Cammack (Angie), Soperton, GA, Melinda Gladden (John), Mt.
