Brittany Anne Byrd Smith, age 33, of Hampton, Virginia passed away on Monday morning, July 26, 2021 at her home.

Born in Jacksonville, Florida, she is the youngest daughter of Phillip and Lynn Byrd of Soperton, GA and Kathy Harrington of New Johnsonville, TN.

Brittany grew up in Jacksonville, FL and the Augusta, GA area, was a graduate of Harlem High School, Harlem, GA, Class of 2006 and had lived in New Johnsonville, TN for a short period of time.  Upon returning to North Florida Brittany attended the College of Coastal Georgia, Camden County Campus in Kingsland, Georgia.  Brittany lived in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, Florida and worked at the Amelia Island Plantation for a number of years until moving to Virginia.

She was an avid Florida Gator fan, loved animals and crafts.

Brittany is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Theron and Doyce Walker Byrd and her maternal grandparents, Billy Charles and Patricia Fallen Harrington.

She leaves behind her fiancé, Joseph Hamlin, Hampton, VA, her parents, Phillip Byrd (Lynn), Soperton, GA, Kathy Harrington, New Johnsonville, TN, her sister, Kristin Gunn (Jamie), Harlem, GA, her niece, Kaitlynn Gunn and her nephew, Jackson Gunn, Harlem, GA as well as a host of cousins and lifelong friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton, Georgia with Reverend Jim Tippins of Fernandina Beach officiating.

Graveside services will follow at 3:30 pm as Brittany is laid to rest at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens in Thomson, Georgia with Reverend Jack McCorkle officiating.
