Mr. Bruce Keith Morris, age 67, beloved husband of Teresa Brantley Morris left us unexpectedly on Sunday morning, July 21, 2024 while on a work assignment in New Mexico.

Born in Dublin, he was one of twelve children in his family.  Bruce and his siblings grew up primarily in Treutlen County near Adrian.  He was a graduate of Treutlen County High School, Class of 1975.  After high school, Bruce served in the United States Marine Corps where he was recognized for his exceptional Marksmanship skills.  While serving on active duty, he was stationed in Japan and studied Avionics, Aviation Electronics, and Radar Navigation Technology.  In March of 1981, he was honorably discharged.  Upon returning home, he enrolled in technical school in Savannah where he drove daily to continue his studies in the electrical industry.  Upon earning his Electrician's License, he opened MCM Electrical Contractors in Savannah.  During his ownership of his business, he continued to complete other courses, earning further certifications.  He closed his business of Savannah in the mid 2000s and began working shutdowns and startups, with the IBEW, at various fossil fueled and nuclear power plants as well as paper mills and other industrial settings, both locally and all over the United States.  Most recently Bruce had accepted a position with Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group of Houston, TX where he was presently serving as the Senior Quality Control Manager at their wind turbine manufacturing facility in Corona, New Mexico.

Bruce was a man of impeccable character, unwavering determination and possessed and displayed a level of love and devotion for his family that was unquestioned and unsurpassed.  He leaves a void in his family's life, as well as tremendous footsteps to fill and a level of perfection for which we can all strive to achieve.  He enjoyed working with horses and other barnyard animals, and time spent with his family; whether it be working side by side or relaxing while enjoying and admiring the fruits of their labor.  He was an accomplished musician, able to play nearly any instrument he could pick up, though his instruments of choice were the acoustic guitar, electric guitar and bass guitar.

Bruce was a master woodworker which was easily identified by the many outdoor projects and building additions that he completed at their homeplace.   In 2017, he and Teresa envisioned and founded Pony Creek Farm where the entire family worked to create a country paradise for family gatherings, weddings, birthdays or a simple stroll along a meandering stream or simply to sit and reflect alongside a tranquil pond.

He is preceded in death by: his parents, Tunney Warren Morris and Ann Laura Morris, a daughter, Crystal Cheryl Morris, a brother, Donnie Craig Morris, and two grandchildren, Angel Croft and Nova East.

Bruce leaves behind his wife of forty five years, Teresa Brantley Morris, three daughters, Monica East (Garry), Olivia Croft (Stefen) and Cherissa Morris, all of Soperton, GA.  He also leaves his siblings, Connie Ely (Carlton), Soperton, GA, Shirley Salter (Lonnie), Uvalda, GA, Lorraine Morgan (Charles) Lyons, GA, Warren Morris, Moultrie, GA, Randy Morris (Cindy), Moultrie, GA, Peggy Yates, Atlanta, GA, Michael Morris (Gail), Wrightsville, GA, Billy Morris (Lorinda), Vidalia, GA, Cathy McCullough, Soperton, GA, John Morris, Mobile, AL, grandchildren, Dakota Shane Pierce, Carleigh ReAnna Pierce, Reyna Mikelle East, Evalee Sharon Morris Croft, Lincoln Bruce East, Victoria Yvonne Croft,  Wilder Stark East and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 o'clock a. m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Blackville Church of God with Pastor Kendall Ward and Pastor Jim Yeomans officiating.

Bruce will be laid to rest beside he and Teresa's daughter, Crystal, in Tarrytown Cemetery.  Military honors will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps Ceremonial Detachment.

Serving as active pallbearers will be:  Dakota Pierce, Stefen Croft, Garry East, Cecil Walls, Michael Morris, Brian Whitaker, Buck Brantley and Michael Giles.

Serving as Bruce's honorary escort will be Mr. Hilbron Brantley.

His family will receive friends on Friday, from 6:00 – 8 :00 o'clock pm at Blackville Church of God.

THE MARINE'S PRAYER

Almighty Father, whose command is over all and whose love never fails, make me aware of Thy presence and obedient to Thy will.  Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and deed and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow Marines, my loved ones and Thee without shame or fear.  Protect my family.  Give me the will to do the work of a Marine and to accept my share of responsibilities with vigor and enthusiasm.  Grant me the courage to be proficient in my daily performance.  Keep me loyal and faithful to my superiors and to the duties my country and the Marine Corps have entrusted to me.  Make me considerate of those committed to my leadership.  Help me wear my uniform with dignity, and let it remind me daily of the traditions which I must uphold.

If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith; if I am tempted, make me strong to resist; if I should miss the mark, give me courage to try again.

Guide me with the light of truth and grant me wisdom by which I may understand the answer to my prayer.
