Mrs. Cathy Lynn Thigpen, age 63 of Soperton passed away on Tuesday evening, October 25, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.

Born in Dublin, she was the only daughter and eldest of three children born to Yvonne M. Shell and the late Smith Marion Hackle.  She grew up in Macon and was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1977 in Bibb County.  She spent her summers in Treutlen County.   After high school, she attended Macon Junior College where she studied Accounting.  After college she made her home in Soperton.  Cathy had worked at GFF in Soperton for a period of time before working at several different convenience stores to include: the Zaidee Store, 221 C Store, the Jet and Flash Foods in Soperton.  She later worked as an Assistant Manager at Dollar General in Adrian and Soperton.

She was an avid crafter, enjoyed shopping, cooking and spending time preparing specific and special meals for her family.

She had attended Boiling Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wayne Thigpen, who passed away in 2004 and a son, Chris Thigpen, who passed away in 2019.

Cathy leaves behind three sons, Shane Thigpen (Ashley), Mt. Vernon, GA, Daniel Thigpen, Vidalia, GA, Kyle Thigpen, Soperton, GA, her mother, Yvonne M. Shell, Braselton, GA, a daughter in law, Kimberly Thigpen, Mt. Vernon, GA, two brothers, Danny Hackle, Braselton, GA, Elton Keith "Pee Wee" Hackle, Gainesville, GA, six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Conway Jones officiating.

Mrs. Thigpen will be laid to rest beside her husband and son in the Thigpen Cemetery, Rockledge, Georgia.

Her family will receive friends on Monday, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, at the funeral home.
