Obituary

Charlene Lowery, age 64 of Soperton, passed away on Saturday morning, October 3, 2020 at Coliseum Healthcare in Macon, Georgia.

Born in Dublin, she was one of five children born to Hazel Heuett Lowery and the late Hayward Lowery. Charlene grew up in Dublin and was a graduate of West Laurens High School, Class of 1974; where she was an All Star basketball player. After high school, she achieved the position of District Manager with McDonalds. She began her family in the late 1970s and raised her two daughters while juggling work and their needs. She later worked at the Shirt Factory in Soperton until joining Southeastern Paper in East Dublin where she worked in the Shipping Department until retiring.

A servant at heart; Charlene always had a heart for others and would sacrifice her own needs to meet the needs of others. She loved animals and always could be found tending to her Labrador Retrievers, her chickens, her cats and her quail. She enjoyed building things, yardwork, fishing and any activity that included her grandchildren.

She was a longtime member of Soperton First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Sara Lowery Sunday School Class.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by an infant sister.

Charlene leaves behind her two daughters, Tara Lann (Chris), Adrian, GA, Frannie Brantley (Shannon), Vidalia, GA, her mother, Hazel Lowery Daniels, Cedar Grove, GA, her brother, Wayne Lowery (Jane), Soperton, GA, her two sisters, Debbie Floyd (Eddie), Adrian, GA, Christy Floyd (Mark), Soperton, GA, four grandchildren, Hunter Lann, Haygen Brantley, Kayden Brantley, Brogen Brantley and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 from the graveside in the Lowery Family Cemetery; on Charlene's property, with Reverend Mark Sweat and Reverend Chad Cofield officiating.

Her family will receive friends on Monday, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Sammons Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Charlene's family is requesting donations to a special account that has been set up at Dennard's Florist for the periodic and seasonal placement of new flowers on family gravesites.

Per present CDC guidelines; social distancing, attendee limits and facial covering guidelines will be enforced.
