Obituary

Mr. Charles Nathan Rowland, age 82, son of the late Hubert Rowland and Hattie Pearl Reese Rowland, formerly of Adrian passed away on Tuesday morning, March 18, 2025 at the home of his daughter in Sanford, Florida.

Born in Emanuel County, at home, he was the second of six children born into the family.  He grew up in Adrian and Savannah before returning to Adrian where he was a graduate of Adrian High School, Class of 1959.  At the age of seventeen he enlisted in the United States Army where he served and was honorably discharged.   Mr. Rowland returned home and enrolled at Brewton Parker College where he earned his Associates and Bachelor Degrees in Business Management.  In 1965 he married, Macon native, Edine Ogburn and they made their first home in the Stone Mountain area of Atlanta.  Charlie worked in the Telecommunications Industry in Atlanta as an Engineer with BellSouth Telephone, which would eventually be acquired by AT& T, until retiring in 1994.  While working with Bell South, Charlie attended Georgia State University where he earned his Masters Degree in Business Administration.  He had lived in Stone Mountain and Smyrna before returning to Adrian in 2004.

Charlie was an avid "Olde Movie Buff".  He loved old television shows, British mystery movies, NASCAR and preparing food for others on race days.  He was especially devoted to his daughter, Cherilyn.  As a result of her surprising him with his first ever birthday party, at the age of sixty, he coined her "beautiful yet devious".

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant sister, Anna Faye Rowland.
