Mr. C. J. Miller, age 94 of the Rockledge Community passed away at his home on Friday evening, January 17, 2020.
Born in Laurens County he was the last living of four children born to the late Sam and Florence Collins Miller. Mr. Miller had been a lifelong resident of the Rockledge Community. He worked as a Truck Driver and for the City of Dublin Sanitation Department before retiring in the late 1980s.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, spending time with his grandkids and raising his livestock.
He had attended Rockledge United Methodist Church and was a Veteran of the U. S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, Harold Jackson Miller, who passed away in 1989, Ricky Miller, two brothers, Johnny Miller, Curtis Miller, a sister, Myrtle Lee Wynn, three grandsons, Ronald Clinton "Clint" Miller, Bobby M. Miller Jr., Ricky Miller Jr., and a son in law, Jimmy Hutcheson.
Mr. Miller leaves behind, his wife of 63 years, Arlie Powell Miller, Rockledge, GA, children, Diane Norfleet (Lloyd), Soperton, GA, Florence Hutcheson, Rockledge, GA, Charlie Ree Hall, East Dublin, GA, Bertha Thigpen (Gerald), Rockledge, GA, Annie Jean Osborne (David), Pembroke, GA, Charlie Jackson Miller Jr. (Lydia), Pembroke, GA, Lois Faye Wilson, Atlanta, GA, Bobby Miller (Marie), East Dublin, GA, and Numerous grand and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 20, 2020 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Barbara Nelson officiating.
Mr. Miller will be laid to rest beside his son in the Thigpen Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Gerald Thigpen, Jr., A.J. Thigpen, Lee Hutcheson, Randy Brown, Wendell Thigpen and Danny Hall.
His family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton.
