Mrs. Claudie Mae Powell, age 90, beloved wife of the late Pearlie T. Powell passed away on Saturday morning, March 27, 2021 at Treutlen County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Soperton.

Born in Treutlen County, she was one of five children born to the late Leonard D. and Julia Smith Dorsey.  She had grown up in Soperton and married Pearlie Powell in 1946.  The Powells lived in Johnson County for many years.  Mrs. Powell worked as a Machine Operator at the Soperton Shirt Factory and the pants factory in Wrightsville before retiring in 1992.

She enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking and taking care of her family.

Mrs. Powell was a member at Johnson Chapel.

In addition to her husband who passed away in 1998, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Powell, and siblings, Gladys Ely, Ray Dorsey and Freddie Dorsey.

Mrs. Powell leaves behind her children, Gary Powell (Donna), Wrightsville, GA, Dale Powell (Kelly), Adrian, GA, Ellen Foles (Shelby), Stockbridge, GA, Carol Hudson, Macon, GA, her last living sister, Betty Lou Lewis, Soperton, GA, seven grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family funeral services will be conducted from the graveside in Johnson Chapel Cemetery, as she is laid to rest beside her husband.  Her son in law, Shelby Foles will be officiating.
