Connie Denise
Spell
Jul 18, 1964 — Sep 2, 2025
Swainsboro
Connie "Denise" Spell, age 61 formerly of Soperton, GA passed away at her home in Swainsboro, GA on Tuesday afternoon, September 2, 2025.
Born in Swainsboro, she was the youngest of four children born to the late Ben L. Dickens and Carolyn June Durden Dickens. She grew up in Swainsboro and Adrian before moving to the Blackville Community of Soperton, where she attended Treutlen High School. Denise lived in Cobbtown for twenty five years before returning to Soperton and most recently to Swainsboro.
She had worked at Roydonwear, Savannah Luggage and Trane in Vidalia, managed the Creekwood Apartments in Soperton as well as Goodys in Metter.
Her most loved "work of joy" was as a mom, confidiant and encourager to her children and family. If someone was having a bad day; a call to Denise would change their entire outlook and demeanor. Simply put. She was "the glue that held her family together". Denise was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, she enjoyed her soap operas or a simple trip to the McDonalds drive thru.
She grew up in Blackville Church of God and most recently was a faithful online supporter of Oaky Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Ben L. Dickens and June Dickens, she is preceded in death by her step mother, Dorothy Mimbs Dickens and an infant brother, Dennis Keith Dickens.
Denise leaves behind, her children: Mandi Michelle Meeks (April), Soperton, GA, Blake Meeks, Soperton, GA, Trevor Spell (Marina), Collins, GA, Corey Spell (Zoe Evans), Cobbtown, her siblings, Gary Dickens (Maryann), Soperton, GA, Angie Hudson (Mark), Swainsboro, GA, her canine companion, chihuahua Mandy Michelle, aunts and uncles, Charles Dickens (Julie), Mary Helen Hanson, Sharon Durden, nieces and nephews, Chris Dickens (Kelli), Craig Dickens (Melissa), Tiffany Hardy (T. J.), Jamey Toler, Jennifer Maddox and many cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Friday, September 5, 2025 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastor Jamey Toler officiating.
Her family will receive friends on Friday at Sammons Funeral Home, from 11:00 am until the hour of service or friends and family may call at the home of her son, Blake.
