Mrs. Cuba Ann Ruis Simons, age 87, formerly of Soperton passed away at The Ponce Therapy Center in
St. Augustine, Florida on Sunday evening, August 29, 2021.
Born in Treutlen County, she was the only daughter of four children born to the late Robert L. and Ethel
Walden Ruis. She was a graduate of Soperton High School where she was an all-star basketball player.
After marrying Benny Dean Driggers the couple moved to Vidalia with her husband's employment at
Oxford Manufacturing. She later moved to Jacksonville after a divorce. She remarried Royce Simons and
moved back to Soperton. She remained there until her husband's death on August 8, 2007. She then
moved in with her son, Kendall Driggers, and lived with him until a few months before her death.
Mrs. Simons enjoyed board games and any time spent with her grand and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her three brothers, Avery, Buford
and Dolan Ruis.
Mrs. Simons leaves behind her son, Kendall Dean Driggers and his wife, Margaret D. of The World Golf
Village in St. Augustine, Florida, grandchildren, Jennifer Taylor and her husband, Jim Hanrahan, of St.
Augustine Beach, Florida, Blake Driggers, Nicole Piscitelli and her husband, Brian, all of The World Golf
Village in St. Augustine, Florida, great grandchildren, Madison, Tripp, Avery, Ben, McKenzie, Bella, Logan
and Liam as well as two nieces Pat Sandy of Palm Coast, Florida and Annette Turner of Jacksonville,
Florida.
Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside in Tarrytown Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday,
September 2, 2021 with Reverend Milton Thomas officiating.
