Mr. D. L. Stewart, age 68 of East Dublin passed away on Monday morning, November 26, 2018 at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, GA.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Soperton Trinity Assembly of God with Pastor Mike Peacock, officiating.

Mr. Stewart will be laid to rest in the family section of Holton Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery.

His family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the church.

Born in Treutlen County, he was the eldest of three children born to the late Doyle Elmo and Izona Claxton Stewart.   Mr. Stewart grew up in Treutlen County and was a graduate of Treutlen County High School, Class of 1968. In 1975 he married Laurens County native, Linda Gillis. They have made East Dublin their home for the past 43 years. Mr. Stewart worked for 29 years as an Air Conditioning and Heating Mechanic with the H. A. Sack Company of Statesboro, GA before joining the Laurens County Sheriff's Office as a Facility Maintenance Mechanic in 2013.

As a child he and his family attended Holton Chapel Advent Christian Church. He enjoyed working with his hands, fast cars and working on a multitude of projects in various stages of completion.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Gertie Claxton and his brother, Henry Stewart.

He leaves behind, his wife of 43 years, Linda Stewart, East Dublin, GA, two sons, Jody Stewart (Brooke), McRae, GA, Rusty Stewart (Kara), Soperton, GA, a daughter, Sage A. Stewart, East Dublin, GA, his sister, Imogene Stewart, Dublin, GA and one grandson, Andrew Stewart.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Mark Graham, Kevin McClendon, Brian Fountain, Brandon Hogan, James Bullard and Blake Scott.
