Mr. Dale Powell, age 67, beloved husband of Kelly Jean Sumner Powell of Adrian, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, July 22, 2026 at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin.

Born in Swainsboro, Georgia, he was the youngest child born to the late Pearlie T. Powell and Claudie Mae Dorsey Powell.  He grew up in Kite and Adrian and attended Adrian High School.  At the age of seventeen he went to work at the J. P. Stevens Woolen Mill which would later be acquired by Fortsman's where he remained until it's closing.  In 1979, he married a high school friend and native of Adrian, Kelly Jean Sumner.  Upon leaving Fortsman's, he joined the Johnson County Board of Education where he worked in Maintenance until retiring in 2015.

A self taught lawn mower repairman, he was affectionately referred to as "The Lawnmower Man".   For over forty years he has repaired lawnmowers for friends, neighbors and anyone needing his help, guidance and advice.

His most enjoyable work has been over the past 4-5 years as he helped his son, Josh, start and operate his own business, SIC Septic Services.

Mr. Powell enjoyed picking on each and every member of his family; especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by twin siblings and a sister, Barbara Powell.

He leaves behind, his wife of forty seven years, Kelly Sumner Powell, Adrian, GA; their children, Candi Powell Barry (David), Blairsville, GA, Josh Powell (Ashley), Adrian, GA; his siblings, Gary Powell (Donna), Wrightsville, GA, Ellen Foles (Shelby), Stockbridge, GA, Carol Hudson, Macon, GA; grandchildren, Alexis Francis, Riley Francis, Emma Powell, Jaycee Powell, Tye Powell, Gunner Hutcheson, Reese Acree and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 o'clock in the morning on Saturday, July 25, 2026 in the Billy Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton with his brother in law, Pastor Daryl Sumner officiating.

Mr. Powell will be laid to rest in the Keas Church Cemetery, Adrian, GA.

Serving as pallbearers will be:  Jarred Powell, Riley Francis, Joey Thomas, Joshua Warren, Kenny Webb & Randall Poss.

His family will receive friends on Saturday at Sammons Funeral Home, from 10:00 o'clock a.m. until the hour of service or friends and family may call at the home of his son, 899 U.S. 80, East Dublin, GA  31021
