Mr. Darvin Shepherd, age 76, of Soperton died Saturday, February 20, 2016, at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center, Dublin, after an extended illness.

Services were conducted in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday, February 22, with Rev. Donny Crosby and Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. Burial was in Red Bluff Cemetery.

Mr. Shepherd was a lifelong resident of Treutlen County and was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas D. and Hattie Kersey Shepherd; sisters, Merle Holton, Mildred Shepherd, Mattie Kate Shepherd, Madie Smith, and Betty Duffee. He served in the United States Army, was retired from the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center, and was a member of Red Bluff Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Annette Thigpen Shepherd; children, Danny (Regina) Shepherd of Soperton and Darlene Shepherd of Fernandina Beach, FL ; grandchildren, Jordan McLawhon, Dannah Shepherd and Colby Shepherd; sisters, Hilda (Bobby) Hackle and Faye Coleman-Wood, all of Dublin, Elaine (Lonnie) Sheffield of Rentz; and brother, Edison (Emmeline) Shepherd of Rockledge.

Pallbearers were Colby Shepherd, Jordan McLawhon, Cecil Clontz, Wade Clark, Glenn Cauley, and Wesley Manning.
