David Lamon Warnock Sr., 77, a native son of Tarrytown, GA, passed away after a brief illness on January 6, 2025.

On February 17, 1947, the youngest of five sons was born in the Tarrytown home of David Foster (D.F.) and Cornelia Warnock.  By the age of 16, David Warnock was farming the home place while attending Treutlen County High School. While in high school, he met his future wife, Lula Mae Page Warnock. The young couple would wed in front of the fireplace mantle of the Tarrytown home on December 17, 1966. For the next 58 years, Mr. Warnock was a loving husband to his wife Lula Mae Page Warnock.

Soon after marriage, Mr. Warnock completed his education at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, and he and his wife welcomed three children. The family of five lived a couple of years in Hartwell, GA, before returning to Tarrytown, GA.

Mr. Warnock was skilled in many trades and worked as an operating engineer of heavy equipment. Eventually, his love of farming would return and he and the family opened Warnock's Chrysanthemum Farm in the early 1980s. The greenhouse business blossomed, and later was complemented with a produce and floral market in Vidalia. Mr. and Mrs. Warnock would eventually retire to spend their time with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at the same Tarrytown family house where Mr. Warnock was born, raised and married.

Mr. Warnock was a devout Christian, a member of Tarrytown Baptist Church and a Gideon. He strived to live a life so others would see Christ in him. He instilled his faith, work ethic and love of family into his children. He enjoyed wood carving and handcrafted Christmas ornaments, chess sets and detailed animal figurines.

Survivors include his wife, Lula Mae Page Warnock and three children Dr. Daniel F Warnock and wife Sylvia of St. Louis, MO, Charity C Mushrush and husband Kim of Tarrytown, GA, and David Lamon Warnock Jr and wife April of Gainesville, GA. Surviving grandchildren are Maggie Watkins and husband Michael of Wadley, GA, Emily Mushrush of Savannah, GA, Parker Warnock of Gainesville, GA, Casey Warnock and wife Ngoc of Gainesville, GA, Georgia Smith and husband Eli of Hebron, KY, and Garrett Warnock of St. Louis, MO. Mr. Warnock was preceded in death by two grandchildren Gene Mushrush and Samuel Warnock. Surviving great grandchildren are Ellie, Kai and Levi.

Surviving brothers are Foster Warnock of Covington, GA, Larry Warnock of Hartwell, GA and Garland Warnock of Soperton, GA. Mr. Warnock was preceded in death by his brother Dr. Timothy Warnock of Prattville, AL. Mr. Warnock enjoyed the love of his family including many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for visitation at the Warnock home located in Tarrytown, GA, on Friday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p. m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from the graveside in  Tarrytown City Cemetery with Pastor Mark Sweat officiating.

Mr. Warnock's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
