Mr. Derrill Wilkes, age 69 of Soperton, Georgia passed away on Thursday morning, January 20, 2022 at Regency Hospital in Macon.

Born in Laurens County, he was the youngest of four children born to the late Kenneth Wilkes and Christine Beasley Wilkes.  Derrill and his brother and sisters grew up in Treutlen County; living for a period of time with their grandparents, Dalton and Essie Merle Beasley.  Derrill had been a Truck Driver for approximately twenty years.

His family had attended Johnson Chapel Holiness Church.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his pet rescue dog, Buddy.

Derrill leaves behind his daughter, Lesley Erin Wilkes, Beaufort, SC, his siblings, Dott Wilkes Graham (Randy), Dublin, GA, Darvin Wilkes (Carol)Soperton, GA, Dianne Wilkes Garrett, Warner Robins, GA, two grandchildren, Hannah Fennell and Joey Olson as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 23, 2022 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastor James Salter officiating,

Mr. Wilkes will be laid to rest in the Heath Cemetery.

His family will receive friends on Sunday, at the funeral home, from 1:00 pm until the hour of service.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Andy Johnson, Kent Foskey, Dalton Foskey, Cameron Dover, Wayne Hooks and Matthew Phillips.
