Obituary

Mr. Don Glenwood Lawhon, age 72, beloved husband of Robin Powell Lawhon of East Dublin, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at the Heart of Georgia Health and Rehabilitation Center in Eastman, Georgia.

Born in Crestview, Florida, he was the youngest and last living of three children born to the late Earl Hart Lawhon and Carolyn Barrow Lawhon.  He was a graduate of Baker High School in Okaloosa County, Florida, Class of 1970.  Ater high school, he and a friend came to Treutlen County where he went to work at GFF and he met his future wife, Robin Powell  of Dublin.   They married in 1976.  Throughout the 1970s and until the mid 1980s he worked for the Forestry Department in Treutlen County.  Upon leaving the Forestry Commission, he began a long career in Industrial Construction; traveling and working plant shutdowns and expansions before joining Dublin Construction as the General Labor Foreman.  Don and Robin later owned and operated a restaurant; "Lawhon's" in Luverne, Alabama.  Since 2017, the have made East Dublin their home.

Don enjoyed gardening, planting trees, hunting and fishing and simply being out doors.  He completed countless crossword puzzles and possessed an amazing mind for completing mathematical equations.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Jesse Hart Lawhon, and his siblings, Dale Lawhon and Reginia Nichols.

Don leaves behind, his wife of forty nine years, Robin Powell Lawhon, East Dublin, GA, their children, Reese Lawhon, East Dublin, GA, Kristin Kyzer, Dublin, GA, nine grandchildren, Nicholas Lawhon, Ariel Lawhon, Victoria Vasquez, Jessica Vasquez, Natalia Vasquez, Reese Lawhon, Kalare Lawhon, Kyndal Kyzer, Kardyn Kyzer, two great grandchildren, Isabella Vasquez and Madelyn Wilcox as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 4, 2025 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Sweat officiating.

Don's family will receive friends at Sammons Funeral Home, on Friday, from 12:00 noon until the hour of service or friends and family may call at the family residence.
