Obituary

Mrs. Doris O. Carter, age 86, of Soperton passed away on Saturday afternoon, March 10, 2018, at the Treutlen County Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Emanuel County she was the youngest and last living daughter of the late Leon "Buddy" Emory and Ruby Mae Radford Odom. Mrs. Carter had worked for many years and retired from Woolrich Manufacturing. Her family recalls fondly her love of gardening, fishing, sharing her sewing skills and above all; her love of cooking and preparing food for others. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, Treutlen County.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Chan Carter, who passed away in January of this year and her only sister, Emory Nell Morrison.

Survivors include children, Marty Carter and Lea (Eddie) Hall, all of Soperton, grandchildren, Deanna (Todd) Mason, Matthew Carter (Beth Cribb) and Courtney (Nathan) Perkins, a great-granddaughter, Emma Rae Mason and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in Harmony Baptist Church at 11 o'clock on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 with Reverend Mark Sweat and Reverend Jason Corbett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.

Serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are special people who Mrs. Doris enjoyed cooking for and sharing a meal with.
Active pallbearers will be Nathan Perkins, Matthew Carter, Todd Mason, Jordy Carter, Mickey Hutcheson and Hunter Spivey.

The honorary escort will include Jerry Carter, Wayne Carter, Gary Carter, Frank Moye, Bobby Radford, Charlie Radford, Pete Habersham, Donnie Morrison and Douglas "Pee Wee" Braddy.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Harmony Baptist Church, 29 Harmony Lane, Soperton, GA 30457.
