Mrs. Dorothy Jean Lanford Keene, age 68, beloved wife of the late Virgil Lee Keene of Soperton passed away on Tuesday morning, August 24, 2021 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Charles Woodrow Lanford and Gladys Pauline Faircloth Lanford.   Miss Dot spent the most of her life in Treutlen County.  She had worked as a Quality Control Inspector for Easter Seals for many years until retiring in 2015.  She possessed a love for children and raised and fostered hundreds of children over the years.  In many cases she nurtured two and three generations of the same families as she provided a loving place for them to call home.  She was passionate about her fishing, her cokes and her pet Chihuahuas.

Miss Dot was a longtime member of Snowhill Community Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by an infant son, Little Lee Keene and two brothers, Johnny Lanford and Jim Ed Lanford.

She leaves behind her siblings, Roger Phillips, Soperton, GA, Neil Rogers, Soperton, GA, Luella Beasley, Beasley Hill of Soperton, GA, Wayne Rogers, of TN, Jimmy Rogers, East Dublin, GA, Junior Rogers, of TN, countless children that called her mama and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from the graveside in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend LaDon Connell officiating.

Her family will receive friends at the graveside on Thursday.
