Mrs. Dorothy Jean Love, age 67, beloved wife of George Love of Soperton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, June 5, 2024 at their home.
Born in Tampa, Florida, she was the eldest of four children born to the late Jamie Antonio "Tony" Teruel Sr. and Jeanette Powell Teruel. As a young child her family moved to Georgia where she attended the Treutlen County public school system. Being the eldest child, she quickly stepped in and helped raise her brothers. She worked in various roles in Treutlen County but was primarily a Mother, Wife and Homemaker. In 1987 she married George Love, of Treutlen County.
Dorothy enjoyed browsing flea markets, estates sales and thrift stores in search of that special find. She was fond of hand crafts and refinishing furniture. She and George spent special times together in the Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg and Sevierville, Tennessee. When not spending time with her grand and great grandchildren, she could be found at their sporting events or at the dirt track in Swainsboro or watching her favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. She was a people person and enjoyed any time spent with her family and friends.
Dorothy had attended and was baptized at Faith Baptist Church in Treutlen County.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Jamie "James" Teruel Jr. and her maternal grandparents, William Grady Powell and Onie Zell Grizzard Powell.
Dorothy leaves behind, her husband, George Love, Soperton, GA, children, Charles Carpenter (Wendy), Butler, GA, Dwayne Carpenter (Jackie), Soperton, GA, Lynn Carpenter, Soperton, GA, a brother, Willie Powell (Angie), Dublin, GA, a sister, Mary Ann of Tampa, FL, grandchildren, Charles William Carpenter, Jr., Brittany McDaniel (Nathan), Taylor Bridges (Andrew), Lindsay Carpenter, great grand children, Jayce McDaniel, Delilah McDaniel and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 8, 2024 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Hammock and Pastor Dan Raburn officiating.
Mrs. Love will be laid to rest beside her aunt in Westview Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Dusty Foskey, Derek Powell, Curt Landrum, Matthew Teruel, Nathan McDaniel, Andrew Bridges and William Carpenter.
Her family will be receiving friends on Friday, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Sammons Funeral Home or friends and family may call at the family home.
