Obituary

Edith Beth Vanlandingham Campbell, age 81, formerly of Soperton passed away at her Broomfield, Colorado home on Thursday morning, June 30, 2022.

Born in Soperton, Georgia, she was the youngest of two daughters born to the late Stephen Henry and Edith Mildred Jarrell Vanlandingham.  She was a graduate of Soperton High School, Class of 1959 where she played basketball and was involved in many activities and school related endeavors during her high school years.  After high school she earned her Associate and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Elementary Education from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.  Her first teaching assignment was on St. Simons Island where she met a fellow teacher that would become her future husband.  She later lived in and taught Elementary and Physical Education in Ft. Myers, Florida before returning to Georgia and teaching in Brunswick, Dawsonville and Lilburn, Georgia.  In Lilburn, she taught at Mountain Park Elementary School from where she retired in the mid 1990s.  After over thirty years of molding the generation to follow her, she settled in Sevierville, Tennessee until moving to Colorado most recently to be near her children.

Like most Educators; she enjoyed reading and quiet time spent gardening, cooking and time with her family.

Her family were pillars in the Soperton community, grocery store merchants and faithful members of the Soperton First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Campbell leaves behind her three loving children and their spouses, Ronny Campbell (Jennifer Lyons), Nederland, Colorado, Jennifer Campbell Minor (Kenneth), Erie, Colorado, Bart Campbell (Melissa), Cumming, Georgia, her remaining sister, Sylvia Rossiter, Haymarket, VA, four adoring grandchildren, Avery and Kasey Minor, Bryce and Connor Campbell, a nephew, Alec Rossiter, a niece, Jill Kerns (Karl) and a great nephew, Woody Kerns.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from the graveside in Westview Cemetery with Dr. Lee Pettis of the Soperton First United Methodist Church officiating.

Mrs. Campbell will be laid to rest within the family section at Westview Cemetery, alongside her parents.

Her family will receive friends, on Saturday, at the graveside, and at a luncheon to be held in her memory, immediately following the service at the Soperton Community Center / Club House,  next door to her childhood home.
