Mrs. Elaine Fazio Tharpe, age 63, of Mount Vernon died Monday, September 26, 2016.
Mrs. Tharpe was born in Dade City, FL and had lived in Mount Vernon for the past twenty-five years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Katherine Bubble Fazio. She was a retired nurse after thirty years of service and was a member of the Episcopalian Church.
Survivors include her husband, George Tharpe, Jr.; five children, Mindy (Joe) Coleman of Ailey, Amy (Tim) Sharpton of Higgston, Angela (Matthew) Hester of Lyons, Amanda (Britt) Odom of Tarrytown, and Justin Tharpe of Tallapoosa, GA; grandchildren, Amber Brantley, Preston Rogers, Kaylee Coleman, Alyssa Brantley, Jacey Hester, Cameron Curry Odom, Collin Coleman, Anna Sharpton, Carson Odom, Brittley Odom, Brison Odom, Breanna Tharpe, and Kaylin Tharpe; sisters, Ann Bowman of Mount Vernon, Kathy (Chris) McTarnesy of Claxton, and Jane Fazio of Panama City, FL; and a brother, Joe (Barbara) Fazio of Blairsville.
Services will be held in the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation, 1512 Meadows Lane, Vidalia, 30474 at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 29, with Reverend Denise Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery with Sammons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Joe Coleman, Tim Sharpton, Mathew Hester, Britt Odom, Dale Evans, and Justin Tharpe.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, September 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. and may be reached at the family residence in Mount Vernon.
