Mrs. Ella Jean Mimbs Carter, age 91 , beloved wife of the late Hershel T. Carter of Soperton, passed away on January 20, 2021 at her residence with her family by her side.
Mrs. Carter was a lifelong resident of Treutlen County, born on July 8, 1929. She was one of eight children and the last living born to Felder Ashley and Lessie Price Mimbs. Mrs. Carter worked as a Machine Operator for many years both for Soperton Manufacturing and Roydon Wear, Inc. Soperton, Georgia. She loved to sew and cook for her family.
Mrs. Carter attended Union Grove Calvary Holiness Church, Wrightsville, Georgia.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, a granddaughter Jeana Latrice Carter, five brothers: Leo, Woodrow, Manning, Parker Soperton, GA and Elzira (Sprog) Mimbs, Lyons, GA. two sisters Valrie Heady Aiken, S.C. and Dessie Mae Hicks, McDonald, GA.
Mrs. Carter leaves behind her children: Jerry Carter (Judy), Faye Carter, Deborah Clark, (John), Sandra Price (Floyd), Denise Kirby (David), grandchildren: Jason Carter, Jennifer Crutchfield (Scott), Jessica Roberson (Ryan), Jahala Akins (Jared), Jodi Phillips (Derek), Jeremy Carter (Amanda), Dana McDaniel (Dylan) ten great grandchildren: Jerika Oliver (Spencer), Colt Cooler, Adam Crutchfield, Carter and Ella Roberson, Grayson and Gavin Akins, Kylie and Easton Phillips, Haven Carter; one great great granddaughter: Olivia Rae Oliver and one sister-in-law Peggy Mimbs Marchant.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday January 24, 2021 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with, Reverends Jim Yeomans and Tim Mock officiating
Serving as pallbearers will be: Jason Carter, Jeremy Carter, Scott Crutchfield, Ryan Roberson, Jared Akin, Derek Phillips.
Mrs. Carter will be laid to rest beside her husband in Westview Cemetery, Soperton, GA.
Her family will receive friends on Sunday January 24, 2021 at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the hour of service, or friends may call at her home at 3980 Lake Cassie Road.
