Mr. Emory Poole, age 81, formerly of Dublin, Georgia passed away on Thursday afternoon, August 2, 2018 at the Wrightsville Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center, after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 6, 2018 from the graveside in Holton Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery with Chaplain Roger Holley, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Army Ceremonial Detachment, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

His family will receive friends on Monday from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm at Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton.

Born in Treutlen County, he was the son of the late Willie Hancel Poole and Annie Brinson.

Mr. Poole was a Veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Germany, Korea and Vietnam from where he received the Bronze Star, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and other commendations. After retiring and returning home in 1974 he worked in Security at the Best Buy Distribution Center in Dublin.

Mr. Poole was a member of Holton Chapel Advent Christian Church in Treutlen County.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Loyce Simons and Zelma Garrett, brothers, Hayward, Willie, Jr., Bobby and Lowell Poole.

Survivors include his sister, Melba Sapp of Bonaire, several nieces and a nephew.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holton Chapel Advent Christian Church, 390 Holton Chapel Road, Soperton, GA 30457
