Mr. Ervin C. "Blue" Elswick, age 92, of Soperton passed away on Thursday evening, January 18, 2018 at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm, on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Beasley, officiating. Military honors will be accorded.
His family will receive friends on Saturday, at the funeral home, from 2:00 pm until the hour of the service.
Mr. Elswick will be laid to rest in Holton Chapel Cemetery in a private ceremony.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Lettie May Adams Elswick, a brother, Lonnie and a sister, Vonda Fowler.
Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn Henry Elswick, Soperton, daughter, Ruth Prosser, Dearborn, MI, son, David Elswick, Atlanta, GA, three brothers, Howard Elswick, Ben (Martha) Elswick, Tommy (Doris) Elswick, 29 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Cromona, KY, he had made Atlanta, GA his home for many years while he worked in Radio Broadcast with WGUN. He has been a resident of Soperton for approximately 20 years. Mr. Elswick served in the United States Army for 22 years; serving in World War II and as a Medic during the Korean Conflict from where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was an accomplished and respected Musician, Inductee into the Georgia Country Music Hall of Fame and a member of the Lakewood Masonic Lodge in Atlanta, GA.
