Mr. Eschol Gillis, age 83, of Macon died Saturday, December 3, 2016.

Mr. Gillis was born in Alamo and was a member of Al Sihah Shrine Temple and Rutland Masonic Lodge #298.  He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from Electronics at Warner Robins Air Force Base and was a member of Porterfield Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Canolia Cooper Gillis; children, Theresa Crowley of Macon and Cheryl (Steve) Schmidt of Rincon; grandchildren, Jennifer Crowley, Chuck (Amy) Crowley, Lauren (Josh) Cain, Daniel (Allison) Lyautey, Tyler (Cassidy) Crowley, Jessica Crowley, and Brian (Amanda) Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Thomas Wood, Teri Ann Wood, Emily Wood, Anna Crowley, Jackson Crowley, Mason Crowley, Sarah Crowley, Nicolai Boechler-Lyautey, Avron Lyautey, Cora Cain, Sophia Schmidt, and Emerson Schmidt; sister, Sally (Warren) Matthews of Michigan and Mathel Gillis of Dublin; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved poodle, Lucky.

Mr. Gillis was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Parker Gillis and Leavine Gay Gillis; brothers, Huey Lanier Gillis, Randall Gillis, Norman Gillis, and Buron Gillis; sisters, Ada Walker and Sara Spires; and son-in-law, Charles Crowley.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Monday, December 5, with the Reverend Phil Anderson officiating.  Burial will be in Red Bluff Cemetery, Treutlen County.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour before the service on Monday.
