Mrs. Evelyn G. McCain, age 91, of Soperton, passed away at her daughter's residence in Statesboro on Monday morning, March 26, 2018.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 29, 2018 in the chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastor H. G. Ridgdill, officiating.

Mrs. McCain will be laid to rest beside her husband in Cornerstone Baptist Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Sammons Funeral Home.

Born in Dadeville, AL; she was the last living child born to the late London George and Mary Elizabeth Caldwell Gunn. In addition to her parents and siblings, she is preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Jasper Thomas "J.T." McCain who passed away in February of 2011.

Mrs. McCain and her husband had made Soperton their home since the early 1980's.   She worked as a Registered Nurse at various local healthcare facilities primarily in Vidalia, Dublin and Swainsboro before retiring in 2009.

She is survived by her two sons, Jerald Thomas "Tom" McCain (Barbara), Soperton, GA, George London McCain, Butler, AL, her two daughters, Beth McCain, Soperton, GA, Susan McCain Hooks (Melvin), Statesboro, GA, eleven grandchildren, many great grandchildren, one great great grandson and many nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be George McCain, J. D. McCain, Parker McCain, Ron Downard, Jerry Downard, Michael McCain and Johnathan McCain.

Her family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to Ogeechee Hospice and Mrs. McCain's special caregiver, Rosemary Young.
