Obituary

Mrs. Frances Drake Keene, age 73, beloved wife of the late Kenneth Keene of Norristown passed away on Saturday afternoon, July 23, 2022 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.

Born in Adrian, she was the youngest of six children born to the late Thomas Frances Drake and Madie Lee Harrell Drake.   She was a lifelong resident of the Adrian / Norristown communities.  She was married to Kenneth Keene who passed away in 2006.  In the 1960s she worked at Swainsboro Sportswear and during the 1970s she ran the snack bar at Sumner's Beach.  Primarily, she was a Homemaker and Mama to not only her children, but also her grandchildren, great grandchildren and many of the Norristown youngsters.

She was happiest when doing something for her family, on the phone or watching her soap operas.

Mrs. Keene had attended the Norristown Revival Center and the Blackville Church of God.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Sue Lawrence, a son, Danny Ray Durden and two brothers, Bobby and Jimmy Drake.

Mrs. Keene leaves behind, her son Ricky Durden, East Dublin, GA, two brothers, Johnny Drake, MD, Tommy Drake, Adrian, GA, a sister, Virginia Drake, Warrenville, SC , grandchildren, Bonnie Sue King (Kevin), Oak Park, GA, Christopher Lee Lawrence (Victoria), Tarrytown, GA, Kayla Leann McLendon (Charles), Evans, GA, nine great grandchildren, Kaylie Alaina King, Hunter Steven McLendon, Collin Lee King, Kimmee Laine Lawrence, Penni Emerie Sue Lawrence, Ava Grace McLendon, Chloe Ann McLendon, Ella Jade McLendon, Billee Christopher Evan Lawrence and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 am on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Stafford and Sister Patty Stafford, of Norristown Revival Center, officiating.

Mrs. Keene will be laid to rest beside her husband in Keas Methodist Church Cemetery, Adrian, GA.

Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, at the funeral home, from 10:30 am until the hour of service.
