Obituary

Mr. Grady Wallace Phillips, 91, a resident of Virginia Beach passed away on July 10, 2017, at his residence. A native of Emanuel County, Georgia and longtime resident of Dublin, Georgia, he was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Rubye Lee Phillips and his step-father, Eugene Phillips.

Mr. Phillips was a long time member of Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church in Dublin, Georgia where he served as a Deacon and an Elder.  He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Europe in World War II and state side during the Korean Conflict.  He went to college on the GI Bill, receiving a BS in Animal Husbandry from the University of Georgia.  He worked as an Assistant County Agent for the University of Georgia Agricultural Extension Service and later with the Georgia Department of Labor.   He loved UGA football and, to his frequent dismay, the Atlanta Braves.

He is survived by his daughter, Leigh Gregory and her husband, Dick Gregory of Virginia Beach, his granddaughter, Wesley Gregory of Virginia Beach, two step-grandsons, Mike Gregory (Wendy) of Anderson, SC, Rich Gregory (Melissa) of Virginia Beach, and three step-great-grandsons, Caden, Carson and Dylan Gregory.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 12, at 11:30 a.m. at the Boiling Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Treutlen County with Reverend George Grimes officiating.  Sammons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
