Obituary

Mr. Hal G. Adams Sr., age 69, beloved husband of Rosalee Smith Adams of Glenwood passed away on Thursday morning, May 28, 2026 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.

Born in Lyons, he was the third of four children born to Pearl Mercer Adams and the late Homer Wiley Adams.  He grew up in Montgomery County and at an early age started working with the Hardeman family and their honey business in Mt. Vernon.  In 1974 while at the PAL Theatre, he met Wheeler County native, Rosalee Smith that would become his wife.  The newlyweds made their home in Glenwood where they have remained for fifty-one years.  Mr. Adams worked at the J. P. Stevens Woolen Mill, as a Mechanic, which eventually was purchased by Forstman's, where he remained until it's closing and his retiring in 2007.  After retiring from the textile industry, he rejoined the Hardeman family business for a short time.

In his spare time, Mr. Adams enjoyed hunting and time spent fishing the Oconee River.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Homer Lee Adams and William Robert "Billy" Adams.

Mr. Adams leaves behind, his wife of fifty-one years, Rosalee Smith Adams, Glenwood, GA, his mother, Pearl Mercer Adams, Moultrie, GA, his and Rosalee's children, Greg Adams Jr., Port Charlotte, FL, Lee Ann Tanner (Justin), Glenwood, GA, his sister, Barbara Ann Smith (Gene), Thomasville, GA, a grandson, Shawn Tanner and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Sunday, May 31, 2026 in the Billy Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastor Phillip Brown officiating.

His family will receive friends on Sunday, at the funeral home, from 11:30 am until the hour of service or friends and family may call at the family residence.
