Mr. Harvey J. Dykes, age 80 of Mt. Vernon passed away on Tuesday morning, March 12, 2019 at The Serenity Place in Dublin.

A native and lifelong resident of Montgomery County, he was one of eight children born to the late Burrell Jacob Dykes and Charlie Lee Bridges.

Harvey started farming with his family and for forty five years worked on the farm of B.L. Powell, as well as helping B. L. and Lynda in their meat processing business in Mt. Vernon.

He enjoyed fishing and hoeing in the garden.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Marcus Edward Dykes, Walter Jacob Dykes, Charles Willis "Tug" Dykes, Kathleen Dykes, Willene Harrison and Ervin Dykes.

He leaves behind, his brother, Leland Dykes (Julia Harrison), Tarrytown, GA, numerous nieces and nephews and a longtime friend and caregiver, Lynda Powell, Mt. Vernon, GA.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Friday, March 15, 2019 from the graveside in Adams Cemetery.

His family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Sammons Funeral Home.
