Mrs. Hazel Coleman Smallpiece, age 92 of Ailey passed  away on Sunday morning, November 3, 3024 at Southland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dublin.

Born in Montgomery County, she was the eldest of five children born to the late John David Coleman and Mattie Mae Grinstead Coleman.  As a child, her family moved to various area farms as her father worked as a sharecropper.  As she grew up, she accepted various chores around the farms and later on worked in the textile industry at different local mills   Mrs. Smallpiece was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County and during that time became well versed on local fishing spots as she spent many hours with her grandson dangling bait in the water.  In addition to time spent with Stacy, she was fond of browsing local stores in search of something that she just might find a use for.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Carl Smallpiece, who passed away in 2013, a brother, J. C. Coleman and two sisters, Colleen Rogers and Betty Jean Cason.

Mrs. Smallpiece leaves behind, a brother, Bobby Coleman (Ellen), a daughter, Carol Foskey, her grandson, Stacy Smallpiece (Nichole), all of Ailey and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Brent Holcombe officiating.

Mrs. Smallpiece will be laid to rest in the Mt. Vernon City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Payton Gross, C. J. Paul, John Coleman and Anthony White.

Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton.
