Mr. Howard Glisson Meeks, age 94 of Wrightsville passed away on Saturday morning, December 3, 2022 at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin.

A native and lifelong resident of Wrightsville, he was one of six children born to the late Rufus Meeks and Gertrude Elizabeth Glisson Meeks.   Mr. Meeks had been the Owner and Operator of Meeks Upholstery in Wrightsville for approximately fifty years.

Mr. Meeks had served in the United States Air Force during WW II as an Aircraft Rescueman; from where he received an Honorable Discharge.

He was passionate about his personal physical conditioning.  He enjoyed gospel music, being at home with his family and was known to always be whistling a favorite tune.

Mr. Meeks had attended the Corinth Church, with his wife.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Louise Sumner, James L. "Buddy" Meeks and Quinton Meeks, all of Wrightsville, GA.

He leaves behind his wife of fifty four years, Sara Lynn Smith Meeks, their daughter, Rose Marie Meeks, Dublin, GA, two sisters, Margie Oliver, Roswell, GA, Gwen Pollette, Jessup, GA, a grand daughter, Sara Mae Elizabeth Mobini, Dublin, GA and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 19, 2022 from the graveside in the Corinth Church Cemetery in Meeks with Reverend Wes Webb of the Corinth Church officiating.

Mr. Meeks will be laid to rest with military honors accorded by the U.S. Air Force honors detail from Warner Robins Air Force Base.

His family will receive friends on Monday, at the graveside, from 12:00 noon until the hour of service.
