Mr. Hymon J. Bush, age 86, beloved husband of Glenda Henry Bush of Soperton passed away at their home on Monday afternoon, August 5, 2024.
Born in Adrian, he was one of nine children born to the late Otis Lee Bush and Lila Ray Kight Bush. He attended school in Adrian and in 1959 married Soperton native, Glenda Henry. Mr. and Mrs. Bush had made Soperton their home for the majority of their lives. They worked together as team drivers, hauling from coast to coast for over twenty five years until retiring in 2006. From 2007 until 2017 they ran the Antique Store located in the old Soperton Ice Plant.
Mr. Bush wasn't a man to sit still. He enjoyed staying "on the go" working on something, going somewhere, adding special structures and character pieces to their homeplace, creating spaces where his family could gather and spend time together, spoiling his grandkids and anything to do with cowboys and indians.
He had attended Hebron Holiness Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Jeyrome Bush, Jettie Freeman, Hershel Bush, Floyd Bush, Melodene Ruis, brothers in law, Dean Foskey, Russell Ricks, Lamar Freeman, Buford Ruis, Mitchell Henry, sisters in law, Shirley Bush, Shirley Henry, Marilyn Henry and Tammy Henry.
Mr. Bush leaves behind, his wife of sixty five years, Glenda Henry Bush, their children, Tony Bush (Jodi), Tom Bush (Sheila), Tonya Hughes (Donny), all of Soperton, three sisters, Phyllis Foskey, Soperton, Linda Ricks, Orianna, Sandra Bush, Soperton, brothers in law, Larry Henry, Terry Henry, Tim Henry, Garry Henry, Randy Henry, sisters in law, Sharon Henry, Angie Edge (Joe Henry), grandchildren, Cindy Page (Nathan), Brandon Bush (Amy), Mandy Motes (Travis), Dustin Hughes (Joyce), fifteen great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastor Donny Hughes officiating.
Mr. Bush will be laid to rest in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
His family will receive friends on Wednesday at Sammons Funeral Home from 10:30 am until the hour of service or friends and family may call at the family home.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Keith Ricks, Jason Edge, Travis Motes, Nathan Page, Brandon Bush and Dustin Hughes.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to: Sidney Manning (aka; the Bread Man),Keith Clements, Olivia Mullis and Frankie Wade for their friendship, compassion and care during Mr. Bush's declining health.
