Obituary

Mrs. Ingrid Ratley Cooper, age 79 of Lyons passed away at Oxley Park Health and Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday morning, July 31, 2024.

Born in Lakeland, Florida, she was one of six children born to the late Stafford and Bernice Newsome Ratley.   She grew up in the Rocky Creek Area of Tampa and was a graduate of Chamberlain High School, Tampa, FL.  In 1963 she married Georgia native Eddie Lee Cooper and has made her home in Toombs and Treutlen Counties since the mid 1970s.  Mrs. Cooper had worked as a Day Care Attendant since the early 1990s at both Sacred Heart Day Care and Toddler Tech in Vidalia, until retiring around 2010.

She enjoyed flower gardening, riding dirt roads while looking and admiring pretty homes, yards, old barns and flowers; as well as seeking out arts and craft festivals and spoiling her grandchildren.  Mrs. Cooper had become accomplished at painting and had shared her talent by painting murals on the day care walls, where she had worked.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, who passed away in 2012 and a brother, Shannon Ratley.

Mrs. Cooper leaves behind, her children, Eddie Lee Cooper Jr., Lyons, GA, Charlie Cooper (Ilona), Martinez, GA, John Cooper (Lisa), Watertown, TN, Suzanna Cooper, Lyons, GA, Caroline Rhiner (Curtis), Cobbtown, GA, two brothers, Mike Ratley (Valinda), Biloxi, MS, David Ratley (Cheryl), IL, two sisters, Candace Smith, Lyons, GA, BR Gillette, Doraville, GA, grandchildren, Ryan Kennedy, Caitlin Cooper, Lauren Kersey, Taylor Griffin, Julia Mann, Jody Spivey, Jared Cooper, Abby Cooper, Magda Cooper, Adam Cooper, great grandchildren, Evy Ray, Aria Kennedy, Walker Kersey and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 3, 2024 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Pastor Milton Thomas officiating.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday, at Sammons Funeral Home, from 1:00 pm until the hour of service.

Mrs. Cooper will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Hutcheson Cemetery.
