Mr. James Coleman, age 75 of Dublin, GA, passed away on Saturday afternoon, January 14, 2023, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin.

Born in Ailey, Montgomery County, GA, on March 3, 1947, he was the son of the late Charlie and Louise Braswell Coleman.  James grew up in Montgomery County and was a graduate of Montgomery County High School, Class of 1965.  After high school, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Army from where he was honorably discharged in 1968.  James worked a short time at both Union Camp, Savannah, and Wayne Sumner Construction, Treutlen County, before joining the Veteran's Administration in Dublin.  He served at the V.A. as a Police Department Dispatcher for thirty-four years before retiring.  While at the V.A. he received accommodations and recognition for exemplary job performance.

Although James was an avid fan of NASCAR and all Georgia team sports, he was happiest when spending time with family and friends.

James attended the Soperton Church of God.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Bobby Coleman, Donald Coleman, Kendall Coleman, Wendell Coleman, Marvin Coleman, Charlie Mae Smith, Sara Conner, and Jacqueline Thigpen.

James leaves behind a sister, Glenis Collins, Dublin, GA, a brother, Charles Coleman (Elaine), Lyons, GA, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Milton Thomas officiating.

He will be laid to rest in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

His family will receive friends on Wednesday, at the funeral home, from 1:00 pm until the hour of service.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Charlie Coleman, Gary Coleman, Matthew Coleman, Warren Coleman, Greg Conner, and Brad Thompson
