Mr. James Roy Scott, age 85, of Soperton, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017.

Mr. Scott was born in Treutlen County, where he had lived for most of his life.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Zelma Ree Beasley Scott; son, Jimmy Scott; grandson, Steven Roy Scott; his parents, James Bartow and Hattie Lou Willis Scott, and all of his twenty brothers and sisters, of which he was the youngest. He was a retired electrical mechanic enjoying a long career with both J.P. Stephens Company and Mohawk Industries of East Dublin.  He was a member of the Pentecostal faith and attended Norristown Revival Center.

Left to love and cherish his memory are his children and their families, Johnny Roy and June Scott of Tarrytown, Joanne and Hugh McGhee of Arab, AL, Joyce and Kenneth Toler of Dublin, and Jean Scott of Soperton; daughter-in-law, Diane Scott of Adrian; twelve grandchildren, Bonnie Holt, Janene Stephens, Amanda LaPointe, Paul Scott, Jamey Scott, Richard Scott, Buddy Ipock, Johnathon Ipock, Tonya Hammaker, Molly Preston, Kenny Wayne Toler, and Meagan Toler; twenty-four great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, with Pastor Jack Stafford officiating.  Burial will be in Hutcheson Cemetery, Treutlen County.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
