Jean Morris, age 71, of Metter Ga. passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, March 10, 2026, at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation Center in Metter.

Jean was born in Folkston, Ga and was one of four children born to the late James Cleveland Blackburn and Jewel Faye Rushing Blackburn. As a young child, her family moved to Statesboro, where she grew up and attended the Bulloch County School System. She spent many years working as a waitress in Statesboro, where she was known for her kindness and friendly spirit.  She was also known for her childlike innocence, her contagious laughter, and her wild gypsy soul.

Jean enjoyed painting, drawing and sketching with charcoal, sewing, and spending time at Tybee Island whenever she could.

Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Morris, along with other cherished family members who passed before her; a son, Eddie Schaffhauser, and a brother, Jimmy Blackburn.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughters, Vicki DiBias, Lexington SC, Rebekah Schaffhauser, Metter Ga; two siblings, Robert Blackburn, Metter, Ga., Suzanne Carney, Pooler, Ga: and step sister, Patti Shannon, Savannah Ga, 5 Grandchildren, Madolyn DiBias, Charlie DiBias, Lily DiBias, Tyler Schaffhauser, and Damien Taylor; extended relatives, and many dear friends who will continue to cherish her memory and the moments they shared with her.

Jean will be laid to rest privately at a later date.
