Mr. Jerry Gene Morris, Sr., age 77 of the Nunez Community of Swainsboro passed away on Monday morning, May 6, 2024 at his home.

Born in Laurens County, he was the youngest of two sons born to the late Thomas Ralph Morris and Dorothy Hazel Hall Morris.  He grew up in Adrian and was a 1965 graduate of Adrian High School.  In January of 1966 he enlisted and served in the United States Air Force.   Jerry worked in the Construction Industry as a Carpenter, working his last fifteen years with Adrian Housing, until retiring in 2000.

He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting squirrels.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of thirty two years, Lorraine, who passed away in 2022.

Jerry leaves behind his children, Jerry "Gene" Morris Jr. (Susie), Charlotte, NC, Amy Morris Whitaker, Savannah, GA, his brother, Wayne Morris (Wrena), Adrian, GA, two grandchildren, Hunter Austin Whitaker, Hannah Nichole Whitaker, four great grandchildren, Parker Reed Smith, River Lee Whitaker, Sadie Claire Whitaker, Weston Milton Brown, a nephew, Danton Wayne Morris and two nieces, Jamie Allison Morris and Stefanie Jill Spann.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from the graveside in Poplar Springs Cemetery between Adrian and Scott, Georgia.  Reverend Milton Thomas and Bill Griffin will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Hunter Whitaker, Danton Morris, Jordan Morris, Phillip Morris, Brad Spann, Jim Palmer and Ricky Meeks.

His family will receive friends on Wednesday at the graveside or friends and family may call at the home of Wayne and Wrena Morris.
