Mr. Jerry W. Rogers, age 75, beloved husband of Katherine A. Rogers passed away, at their home in the Orianna Community of Soperton, on Thursday morning, June 24, 2021.

Born in Dublin, he was the eldest of four children born to the late Judson W. "J.W." Rogers Jr. and Bettye Ruth Spell Rogers.  He grew up in Treutlen County and was a graduate of Soperton High School, Class of 1965.  After high school, Mr. Rogers enlisted into the U.S. Army Reserves where he served for six years.  In 1966 he married high school friend and Treutlen County native, Katherine Arrington.  Mr. Rogers comes from a family of farmers and he continued that tradition by tending some of the same soil as his fore fathers for his entire life.  For many years he grew and coaxed Vidalia Branded onions as well as cotton, tobacco and other row crops.

His hobbies were: working in the fields with his crops and maintaining his John Deere equipment.

He had attended Orianna Baptist Church and Bethsaida Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Billy Rogers, who passed away in 1982 and a sister, Carol Rogers Hartley, who passed away in 2019.

Mr. Rogers leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Katherine Arrington Rogers, Soperton, GA, children, Ginger Rogers, Phoenix, AZ, Wendy Rogers (Johnny Beasley), Cedar Crossing, GA, Rodney Rogers (Carrie Long), Soperton, GA, his remaining sister, Janice Jones (Ron), Gulf Port, MS, two grandsons, Chase Strickland and Hunter Powell and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 26, 2021 from the graveside in Orianna Cemetery with Pastor Arthur Conley and Paster Troy Maddox officiating.

His family will receive friends on Saturday morning, at Sammons Funeral Home, from 10:00 am until time to depart for the cemetery.  Friends may also call at the home of his son.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Brent Strickland, Keith Ricks, Robbie Hooks, Wade Webb, Bailey Long and James Beasley.
