Jo Ann
Frost Henningsen
Jan 12, 1934 — Mar 27, 2022
Macon
Joann "Gigi" Frost Henningsen went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 27, 2022. The vivacious mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was born in Soperton, Georgia, at the local jail where her father was the sheriff. She was the sole child to James and Selma Frost. She grew up in Valdosta, Georgia, where she enjoyed dancing and horseback riding. She was baptized at Morningside Baptist Church and attended Valdosta High School. She attended the University of Florida as a Physical Education major and was a band major. She was married to James Henningsen for 24 years. Wherever the pair was stationed she continued to serve her community.
She loved traveling and lived in many states as well as in Turkey and Italy. While in Turkey, she was the owner and instructor of a dance studio. She helped military families and local schools with talent shows. While in Italy, she ran a successful Amway business and opened and operated two car dealerships. She also was the instructor of a fitness facility. She eventually returned to Valdosta where she was a deputy sheriff for 20 years with the Lowndes County Jail; her life in law enforcement coming full circle.
Gigi is survived by her three daughters, Cynthia Thigpen, Sandra Yarborough, and Kelley McGowan. She leaves behind her five grandchildren: James, Carson, Kasey, Savannah, and Bailey, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 2, 2022 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton, Georgia.
Mrs. Henningsen will be laid to rest beside her parents in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends on Saturday, at the funeral home, from 1:00 pm until the hour of service.
