Joann (Smith) Barwick age 87, of Austell passed away Monday, January 28, 2019. Joann was born in Scott, Georgia and married her sweetheart, James, 70 years ago. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and friend to all. Joann was a longtime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and volunteered at the Temple in Sandy Springs. She was an active AARP member and enjoyed traveling, painting and geneaology.

Mrs. Barwick is preceded in death by her son, Daniel Barwick, and brothers: Oscar Smith, Jack Smith, Aubrey Smith, and Roger Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, James Newton Barwick; 3 children, Robert Barwick, Toby (Kathryn) Barwick, and Mary (Kim) Watters; daughter-in-law, Kathy Barwick; her brothers, Harold Smith and Delmar Smith; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one on the way.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 pm on Thursday, January 31, 2019 from the graveside in the Watson – Odomville Cemetery, Adrian, Georgia with Elder Richard Ledford officiating.

Her family will receive friends at the graveside following the service.

The procession to the cemetery will form and depart from Sammons Funeral Home at 12:00 noon on Thursday.

Serving as pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons: Robert Eugene Barwick, Toby Newton Barwick, James Wyatt Barwick, George Thomas Barwick, Toby Ray Barwick and Jason Daniel Barwick.
