Obituary

Mrs. Joyce Snow Wood, age 82 of East Dublin passed away on Wednesday afternoon, March 13, 2019 at Scott Nursing Home in Scott, GA.

Born in Laurens County, GA, she was one of six children born to the late Oliver Owen Snow and Elmira Armita Clements Snow. After high school she married Edward Joseph Wood and became a military wife; supporting her husband throughout his career in the U. S. Air Force. Upon her husband's retirement they settled in Valdosta where they resided until returning to Laurens County in 2014.

Mrs. Wood loved her dogs, enjoyed doting over her great grandchildren and was most content as a caregiver for her sister, Ada.

She had been a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Valdosta.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Edward J. Wood who passed away in December of 2017, a sister, Ada Snow and a brother, Hollis Snow.

She leaves behind, two sons, Reggie Wood, Scott, GA, Joey Wood (Karen), Valdosta, GA, Marlene Wood Courson (Leo), Clyo, GA, two brothers, Charles Snow (Barbara), East Dublin, GA, Carl Snow (Betty), Suffolk, VA, a sister, Reba Alligood, Dublin, GA, four grandchildren, Jessica Willis, Alicia Burgess, Joy Wood, Eric Wood, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 4:30 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2019 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Reverend Ben Edwards and Reverend Josh Wood officiating.

Mrs. Wood will be laid to rest beside her husband in Minter Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends on Saturday, at the funeral home, from 3:30 pm until the hour of service.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Chuck Snow, Kenny Snow, Jason Snow, Eric Wood, Oliver Snow and John V. Thigpen.

Her family wishes to express a special thanks to Larry and Kathleen Shriver of Twelve Oaks in Dublin, her care givers, Bernice O'Neal and Shirley Scott as well as the staff of Scott Nursing Home.
